This is just lovely -- quiet, intense, and fragrant, just like being in an orchard at sunset. Luna and Remus make a lot of sense together, and I love that she has a bat friend named Basil! I also like seeing the scenes through Remus's pov: he's poignant, self-deprecating yet realistic, and full of complexity. The political/social situations make an effective background.
You create such an atmospheric picture; your imagery is every effective as well. So many fine touches -- I can feel the dampness as Remus walks, hear the crack of the apple as he bites, see the crimson clouds.
The apple, of course, is a great choice of focus; all its powerful symbolism works very well for a story of "temptation" to which the yielding is a blessing, not a curse.
Just a perfect story for late summer -- still warm, rich with endings and harvests and the seeds of the future.
