Thank you for the gorgeous comment! Oh, Kelly, I savour every mouthful of the delicious words you've chosen to describe my writing.
I'm thrilled this fic works for you so well. Of course, you've been to my Remus's lands before, but (also by not mentioning that) you make me believe that the whole of the story – with its setting and with its references to earlier events and to the political/social issues – as well as the pairing can make sense to anyone. The wish list was great, and made me dare include something beyond the intimate interaction.
It's wonderfully reassuring to hear that you've seen Remus as poignant, self-deprecating yet realistic, and full of complexity. That means I've managed to portray the character whose story I can't stop writing. And you must be right: those features make him serve well as a pov character. Perhaps the sensitivity of an artist in him also helped me convey sense perceptions through such imagery that painted an atmospheric picture.
I suppose I was lucky to pick apples for the opening. I didn't consciously plan to use an apple for any extended metaphor, and Remus surprised me by taking a bite. :) I'm glad the symbolism turned out so effective.
It's a precious gift that you've received my writing so wisely and sensitively, appreciated all those aspects in this fic, and loved meeting Basil, too. :)
