Fest rec and music: Sunshine Challenge, prompt 6 – Firewhiskey and Cheap Thrills

Like some other people at the Sunshine Challenge, I didn't expect indigo to be a prompt. My post is perhaps a bit too purple, but there's some magic here at least.



I'm proudly showing this banner so as to tempt you all to participate in the next edition of Firewhiskey Fic – this Saturday, the 25th!

Last time (my very first time) was for me (not too long after I'd returned from hiatus and offered my motorbike rides, as I mentioned in my previous post) one of the best experiences of community feel in fandom. For once I – an eternal Remus/Sirius writer – managed not to take writing fic too siriusly. I used all the prompts, one of which was Severus Snape, and surprised myself when while writing a piece full of tipsy typos, I ended up revealing a whole new dimension in my Remus's love life.

The drunk fic fest sounds tempting. I've been trying to get back in writing-mode for awhile and I keep getting distracted by other things and the nagging feeling that nothing is good enough. This sounds like this may be the thing to shake me out of overthinking so much.

Great! (I don't mean the nagging and distraction part, but the rest...) Your icon also is very fitting! Smut is not compulsory but very welcome and very common. If you need any more of this tempting, you can scroll down the earlier entries to have a look at the January edition of drunken masterpieces. The lovely participants also gave a lot of great comments. (I commented even on my own anonymous work – even replied to that comment, too.)

That sounds like a fun challenge! At first glance the prompts didn't really spur my imagination, but I have a few days to think about them, after all. :)

I managed to get a headache (probably because I didn't drink enough water during a bus ride?) so no Firewhiskey Fic for me tonight. :(
I'm glad you liked the video! It always cheers me up to watch it, even though I don't know what the song is about (all I know is that their English version has nothing to do with the Finnish version.)

Yes, that was too bad! A hangover isn't funny either, but getting a headache without drinking is almost worse! :( At least it was gone today. But I have to go back to work tomorrow, so no alcohol for me tonight.

I'm not sure that I could turn in anything coherent while I was drinking any sort of alcohol, unless the drinks were particularly weak and I could draft fast enough to get something done before I inevitably fell asleep. But it's an intriguing thought for…someone else.

Oh but it doesn't have to be coherent, and you could just submit anything ending at the moment when you fell asleep! Among others, there'll be a banner for the writer whose fic is voted the least coherent.

That's good to know. I won't have the time to participate this time around, but I'll keep it in mind for the future.

Also, seeing Sia's song rendered as a sock hop dance, complete with someone making sure there's enough room between the dancers is jarring for contrast between lyrics and visuals.

UGH this whole post has me chair-dancing. THANK YOU for the pointer to FWF!! I took one look at those prompts and was swooning. I've never participated before myself, though I've enjoyed reading the resulting fics in the past. Gonna have a crazy weekend, but I might have to carve out some time. It would be a blast to let my hair down and go wild. Frivolous play is a great way to turn over rocks, and like you mention, you never know what you might discover beneath them!

I don't think I've ever heard Cheap Thrills?? What a perfect vibe for FWF! GAH. Love both versions, and I can totally feel "indigo" in them. Thank you for sharing.
