Meme: Song Titles

I've seen this fun meme on topaz_eyes' and abyss_valkyrie's journals. A song with a drink and a song with food in the title were the hardest for me to come up with: I couldn't think of any I'd heard recently, but then remembered the old hits below. I changed the order so as to mention first those three songs which I haven't referred to or been inspired by when writing fic – and last those to which I can attach links to completed and posted fic.

A drink: No Milk Today (Herman's Hermits)

A food: Strawberry Fields Forever (The Beatles)

A place: Shasta (Vienna Teng)

A profession: The Teacher (Paul Simon)

A colour: A Whiter Shade of Pale (Procol Harum)

A girl's name: Iris (Goo Goo Dolls)

A boy's name: Martin (Tom Robinson Band)

A number: 2-4-6-8 Motorway (Tom Robinson Band)

An animal: The Year of the Cat (Al Stewart)

(The three songs above are sung or remembered by characters in The Angel of Charity, or This Awfully Long Month.)

A vehicle: Blue Motorbike (Moto Boy)

(As I've mentioned on my journal before, this song was the prompt for Truly Travelling Towards Someone.)

Oh! Oh! I think I can do all of these just with Beatles songs. Not connecting them to fics, necessarily, but thinking of songs.

OR I could try to think of all metal songs, just for the challenge.

I have only done a song prompt once, for a contest ages ago, but it was a fun challenge. That's not counting the playlists I come up with for fics, obviously, because I always do that, but still.

Yay! Thank you for this wonderful comment – a great list! And yes, you should make a metal list, too!

I can't remember using song prompts more than twice... The other time was in 2006, and that was the first time I listened to Vienna Teng. I don't make playlists, but since last year I've enjoyed including some songs in my fics in the way that those songs mean something special to the characters.

I can't remember which fic of yours I was reading, but one of the characters had a Siouxsie and the Banshees poster and I was like, "OH wow, yes, she'd totally be into Siouxsie. Good call."

<3 That poster's at the beginning of my Amelia fic set in 1978, Palm-Shaped Leaves In New Shades. Oh, why didn't I think of mentioning Hong Kong Garden as the song with a place in the title.

Ohh, this looks like it would be fun to try out! I think just about every category would give me trouble, though. XD I'm sure I must know a song for them, though... I like your choices. ^^

I thought about "Shasta" too when I saw this meme, but I was thinking a person's name. But of course, it's a place!

Shasta is a great song – and could fit in another category, too, as its other title is Carrie's Song!
