Goals What Goals
Jan. 8th, 2020 08:24 pmChallenge #4
In your own space, set some goals for the coming year. They can be fannish or not, public or private.

Perhaps partly because I’ve found this challenge hard, I’ve ended up reading several people’s excellently-crafted, balanced and wise goals, and I find this ever harder.
Let’s try with fannish goals…
1. To keep writing the story I care about and find important and fascinating, and write it well, perhaps better.
2. To learn something new about writing well.
3. To interact with people in fandom.
Perhaps I’d better leave it at that. The rest is hopes and dreams.
Outside fandom
4. To do other creative things besides writing fanfic: write other fiction, act in the community theatre troop, paint at least a couple of small watercolours (as last year I painted one – count’em, one!), sing and/OR play the kantele.
5. To enjoy small blessings and feel reconciled with my life and burdens.
Anything bigger is hopes and dreams, although a friend says, “Stop dreaming! Act!”

And yeah, being grateful is a good one too.

Date: 2020-01-09 04:24 pm (UTC)I don’t know if I manage to feel grateful – just not to complain or pity myself constantly, but I like formulating goals and advice positively.

I also wanted to stay that I don’t think that there’s anything wrong with hopes and dreams. The danger lies in when you give up and no longer have them at all.
