Not Taking Fic Too Siriusly – Vote for Stories by Buzzed Anons

Welcome to read some unusually spirited stories here on firewhiskeyfic.

There are eight of them, and one of them is mine, I’m proud to say. (For once I’ve managed not to take my fic too siriusly – when one of the prompts was Severus, not Sirius).

The fics are not very long, most of them shorter than 1000 words. And the writers have kindly skipped some letters and unnecessary punctuation. You can easily read all these little masterpieces and give quick feedback without bothering about spelling or looking at what you’ve typed, because that’s how we fwfickers worked on our stories last weekend.

And then vote for one fic in each of the five categories. That will help us find out who’s succeeded in writing, for instance, The Least Coherent Fic.

If you subscribe to the lovely community, you won’t miss the next round. In three or four months you can drink and write with us, as long as you’re of legal age.

It was my pleasure to post about this. Now I wish I’d promoted the community also when I was planning to take part, although then I wouldn’t yet have been able to express how it feels and what it means to write in a community like this.

It is a little bit different than, well, anything! LOL

As your other commenter noted, the typos and general incoherence would be hard to read under other circumstances. Certainly in the average fest. And I know many of the creators struggle to leave the fic as is rather than fix it. But there is something magical about the silliness, the absurdity of it, I think. It's so ridiculous one just has to laugh rather than be critical.

Yes! I suppose it’s easier to not only be able to read fics with misspelled words without pain but to start enjoying the silliness, after you’ve made yourself submit something unpolished and even ridiculous. But the magic of the absurd truly works, and as I’ve said (in different words) to the other commenter – and in a comment on a fic – some words are reformed to sound good and convey refreshing meanings.

I really want to support you...but I can't read those. I can't read misspelled words or bad grammar like that. It is painful for me.

So, I'll just cheerlead. Good for you for writing! Yay! Go you!

Thank you for cheerleading so wonderfully! I appreciate it ever more because you can’t enjoy reading our drunk writings.

This is a new, strange experience to me. It’s normally painful or at least disturbing to find a tiniest error in any text. But some of fwficcers seem to have perfected the art of misspelling. Their alternative vocabulary miraculously works: the words can be pronounced, and sometimes they even mean something that’s not completely wrong.

Yes, I hope to share drinks with you next time! I’ve understood that some people couldn’t participate because of illness. Perhaps you’ve got enough time – and enough tolerance and even will to laugh benevolently at misspellings – so that you can read the eight incoherent fics and vote.

Oh, I think the mistakes sound very amusing, because alcohol ;-)

Perhaps drinking while reading makes them even better. I’ve felt that some misspelled words lead to fascinating sentences and reveal new truths.
